Special Cable to The New York Times.

PANAMA, June 7.--- Two Americans, strangers to the city, entered a Chinese store in Colon last week and purchased $5,000 worth of opium from the merchant. They paid for the drug with 1,000 $5 bills and went away with the opium.

The merchant placed 200 of the bills in circulation and banked the remaining 800. Yesterday it was discovered that the bills given by the two Americans were all counterfeit.
