Environmental Tobacco Smoke

Final Draft for Scientific, Public, and SRP Review
February 1997

The California Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) is developing a comprehensive health assessment on environmental tobacco smoke (ETS). The Final Draft for Scientific, Public, and SRP Review of Health Effects of Exposure to Environmental Tobacco Smoke is now available. This overall assessment of ETS includes chapters on respiratory health effects, reproductive and developmental effects, cardiovascular effects, cancers, and exposure measurement and prevalence. Previously released drafts addressing specific topic areas have been revised, updated, and integrated into this draft document.

OEHHA welcomes public comment as a part of the development of this assessment. The document Health Effects of Exposure to Environmental Tobacco Smoke is posted on the OEHHA website. To obtain a copy of the document, you may also contact Ms. Joyce Smylie at (510) 540-2084. A public forum to receive verbal comments on the document will be held on April 17, 1997 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM in the auditorium at 2151 Berkeley Way, Berkeley, CA. To receive full consideration, written comments on the Final Draft for Scientific, Public, and SRP Review must be submitted in duplicate and received by or postmarked May 5, 1997.
